Allen is located 25 miles north of Dallas on US 75. It has a population of 260,000, making it the ninth largest city in Texas. The city includes 71 square miles, and borders several other suburbs. Allen has an award-winning golf course and nearly 200 restaurants and a 7,000-seat arena.
Allen has been named 10 Best Towns for Families and Best Places to Live by Money Magazine (August 2012). It is also one of the Top 10 Dallas Suburbs and safest cities in the U.S. by city crime ranking (2011).
Amenities include The Village at Allen premium outlet mall, plus two other major regional outdoor Town Center shopping centers, plus extensive restaurants and entertainment venues.
The Allen ISD has 16 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, and 1 Allen High School. Small portions of the Allen city limits extend into Lovejoy, McKinney, and Plano ISDs. Allen also hosts a campus of Collin College, which is located inside Allen High School.
